I think this class is very useful for graduate students; who may or may not conduct the qualitative research. They will learn lots of useful software that they can apply to collect or organize the articles or data. I really love Zotero. As I mentioned in my other blogs, this is very useful tool for collecting and organizing articles. I also recommend this software to my friends. This class provides lots of software that will help doing qualitative research, especially Audacity, MovieMaker,Transana, and ExpressScribe. I plan to use all these programs in my research.
My research will focus on the area of how inclusion program have been implement in the main stream classroom. I will conduct the research using qualitative research method. I plan to collect my data using the digital voice recorders and video recorders. The software that I learn from this class will be useful for my research. Only one recommendation for this class is about the time. I think if we have more time to practice using all these software and tool in the real situation. Later bringing back the question to share and discuss, we will gain more direct experience.
Finally, I really enjoy the instructor, Laurie. She is really helpful and tries to find the solution for the problems which we bring to the class. She also shared her experiences, software and website that are very useful. Thank you so much so much for everything Laurie.

HyperRESEARCH
HyperRESEARCH is cross-platform qualitative analysis software, which works compatible with multimedia, such as text, video sources, and audio sources. It can work with PC, Mac and OS X. This software will be useful to the ethnography method research, which collect data from varieties of sources. According to HyperRESEARCH website, this software allows the researchers to code and retrieve, build theories, and conduct analyses the data. Moreover it allows researchers share the files and documents with their team. When taking the quick tour, I found out HyperRESEARCH uses the easily format pattern, which is friendly to the savvy and non-savvy user. The software provides the tools that researchers could add the memo or annotation to any code reference in your study. This helps save time and provides the convenience to the researchers. They do not have to use other program. In the HyperRESEARCH website, it supplies the supports, such as Tutorial books, E-mail discussions, and discussion FORUM. The users could easily access to the information or suggestions. I took a look at HyperRESEARCH tutorial. The tutorial offers the step by step, including pictures. It is easily to follow. It also gives the sample study for exercise, which allows the users to practice follows the tutorial. The HyperRESEARCH provides the limited free trail version. This gives the users to test and learn before buying. At the end, I think the users have to remain ourselves the software is just the tool, which help us to work easier.

notetaking tool: Zotero
Zotero is very good tool for collecting articles and information. In the beginning, I struggled to set up and use the Zotero in the beginnings. The video in the web introduced only the overview of what Zotero is and what Zotero provides to the users. I had to read the information in the support section. It provides a lot of details. However the language is quite difficult for the person who less experience in technology. It took me quite a while to understand how to sync the documents and search where the PDF files of article store in my computer. At the end, Zotero is the best tool for scholars and researchers to organize their knowledge base. It will take time getting used to the functions in Zotero. It is worth your time in the long run. I encourage you to try and you will understand how great it is.
